Included in the kit :
1 x Panasonic HC-PV100 camera
2 x batteries
1 x Battery charger
1 x 64gb SD memory card
1 x HDMI cable
Take a full size handheld camcorder, add three manual rings, XLR mic inputs, a front mounted LED light, a 20x optical zoom lens and you have a well credentialed camcorder.
Throw in Focus Assist, manual iris control, gain, white balance and shutter speed via side mounted controls, USB 2 and 3 ports, manual audio level controls and twin SD card ports and we are talking a serious camcorder indeed.
HC-PV100 sports a 49mm filter diameter Panasonic lens with an F value of F1.8 ~ F3.6 and a focal length of 4.08mm to 81.6mm (equivalent to 29.5 to 612mm in 35mm terms). The light gathered is pointed to a 1/3.1” BMS MOS sensor with an effective rating of 6.03 megapixels.
Standard illumination is 1400 lux and minimum illumination is down to 1.2 lux at Super Gain 36dB and a shutter speed of 1/25 sec. Speaking of shutter speed, it is variable from 1/6 – 1/8000with a super slow mode of 1/100 – 1/8000.
Stabilisation is obtained by a 5 axis HYBRID O.I.S. + level shot functionality.
Tucked away into the top handle is a pull out and tilting 3.0” colour LCD screen with approximately 460,000 dots.
The 0.24 inch viewfinder does a great job when this situation occurs (and I prefer using a viewfinder anyway) and my only criticism is that I’d like the “Rec” indicator to be a little larger.
Provision is made for an external microphone with a mic mount supplied in the box and there are two XLR ports for this purpose. Other ports include AV, HDMI, headphone and as mentioned, USB 2 and 3.
The front mounted LED light contains 8 single LED that together give 300 Lux at 1.0m and if you are interested, has a colour temperature of 5000K. An orange diffuser is also supplied in the box which brings the illumination down to 70 lux at 1.0 metre and a colour temperature of 3000K.
When the HC-PV10 is in standby mode, a circle of blue LED encircles the body and this changes to red when recording. A nice touch.
